Elizabeth Haven
Elizabeth Haven attended the Royal college of art
and retired from the art world shortly after. Her hobby is pillbox
twitching. Her current all-time favourite location is the sound mirrors
in Greatstone, Kent, England.
Useless Camouflage
‘’Selected participants have supplied
me with an idea for pillbox camouflage which only works for a brief
moment in time i.e. sunrise/sunset, Wednesday 2pm. I have reinterpreted
these designs as camouflage schemes which are inherently useless.’’
Repulse
‘’The text is the motto of an obsolete
British nuclear submarine. The corrosion and eventual destruction
of the plate over time by rust connotes the ultimate fallibility
of the military. I first exhibited this piece last year and present
it here a year further on in it’s deterioration.’’
Solomon J Solomon
‘’An attempt at a literal interpretation
of a piece of writing which describes a camouflage ‘prop’,
a ‘dummy’ horse, often used in warfare to conceal the
true location of forces.’’
