Homepage: Living By The Sea
LIVING BY THE SEA is an exhibition. This exhibition is a community project that draws together the creativity and expertise of students from Falmouth College of Arts, local schools and community groups and the National Maritime Museum Cornwall. Living by the sea offers unique and very special experiences. Personal, yet shared. Felt in a moment, flavoured by the past. Reality and romance, joy and pain. The minds and hearts of coastal dwellers resonate with the knowing of the sea. It exerts a visceral hold on those who love it. Sometimes bountiful, sometimes brutal, always beautiful. Living by the sea inspires deep feelings and big questions. Questions which must be answered, feelings which must be expressed. What does living by the sea mean now? Has global culture eroded distinctive experience? Has the sea's proximity become incidental? What will living by the sea mean in the future? The exhibition enters into this discourse. It is an audio-visual expression of current local experience, a snapshot of living by the sea. A celebration. A debate. It is an exhibition by those who live by the sea. This is their story, their experience. Come and share it. This Project is supported by Falmouth College of Arts, the Higher Education Active Community Fund and the National Maritime Museum, Cornwall.
